PROFILE
Sweet snuggly Sarah is a petite 60 lb., 1-2 year old female who came to GRRNT along with her brother and 3 sisters. When they arrived at the vet, they were quite dirty and stinky, having appeared to live outdoors most of their lives. Now that Sarah has been with her foster family for a month and has had at least 6 baths, she is growing in a beautiful shiny soft coat. Sarah is very gentle, laid back, and would love someone she can follow all day long and lay at their feet. She enjoys other dogs, both male and female. We have not seen her with cats.
It appears Sarah’s main goal in her past life was to breed puppies. She has already had at least one litter. Because of this, her Mama instincts are in gear and she does know how to be the alpha of the pack. She is quite gentle but crafty with her alpha ways (just like all us Mamas are). She is good at staring down a pup in order to get a bone, lying on a dog bed in a way that doesn’t allow the others to have room to share etc. In fact, her humans need to be aware of her craftiness, as she may quietly steal a piece of paper that fell to the floor or sneak something out of your hand if you aren’t looking. Being a mama didn’t leave much room for being a puppy herself, and she does not naturally play with toys. She does however enjoy a good bone to chew on!
Sarah wants to be your cuddle bug more than being outside or even going on walks. She sometimes needs to be prodded to go outside to do her business, because really she just wants to be with YOU. Sarah was not potty trained in the beginning but has learned quickly to potty outside and has had very few accidents.
With her petite size she is manageable on walks, however, could use a bit of training. Speaking of training, she does know how to "come" and "lie down", but will need help with other basics. She will sleep in her crate but really, really loves to sleep next to you!
