Justin, you were my foster failure and the best dog ever!  You were the most gentle big brother to both your cat and human siblings.  You left us way too soon and are incredibly missed every day.  Our home is not the same without you.  We love you so much!

Cookie came into our lives in late 2015 at 10 years of age. She quickly proved she was a young at heart 10 year old, playing catch me if you can, swimming the St Lawrence River after the ducks, had to be rescued by boat, taking 3 and 4 mile hikes with us and generally enjoying life to the fullest. Including mooching Cheese-it’s from the card players, and loving to go anytime a vehicle left the yard. She quickly learned to come back to us when called, never forgot her foster Mom, Pat, and was the sweetest girl we could ever wish for. She was never a morning girl, preferring to stay abed until 10am or so. She finally left us in early summer 2020 when her age caught up with her. We will never forget her sweet, gentle ways and her golden disposition spoiled us all. You are missed!

When you were named Sonny because you were "yellow like the sun", we had no idea the ray of sunshine you would be to all those who knew you. We were blessed to have been your 2nd chance family, and you will shine forever in our hearts. We know you have found a spot in Rainbow Bridge like your favorite spot in your backyard. Overlooking the pond glistening from the sun's rays and bringing you warmth like the love you so unselfishly gave. We miss you sweet baby boy, but know you are no longer in pain. Feel our arms around you until we meet again!

Zack crossed the Rainbow Bridge July 2006. He was our first rescue golden. He opened our hearts to 6 rescue siblings. Zack was choosey about making friends, so anyone who came to live with us had to pass the "Zack test". His favorite hangout was the back of our Tahoe Z71; the license plate read Zax 71. We miss you Zacky, till we meet again.

Major, rescuing you was the best thing that ever happened to us! You immediately became a part of our family and we thank you for your love and compassion. You were born a Major but you died a General! You will live forever...

We adopted Autumn from GRRNT at the October Picnic in 2001. Danny became our “failed foster” when his prospective family decided they wanted a smaller dog. Danny loved Autumn and the two got along so well, we adopted him too. Autumn and Danny became our constant companions for the next decade plus a little. We were so fortunate to have them in our lives. They spent a lot of time on squirrel, rabbit, and mole patrol and kept those garden “pests" alert. Autumn was the leader - where she went, Danny followed. Autumn never let anyone come into the house without a huge welcome kiss and a game of ring around the visiter. She just knew anyone that came, came to visit her! She had two problems, thunderstorms, and she couldn’t control her LICKER! Danny was a lover boy from day one. He just wanted to be with Autumn and us. If the vehicle left the yard, Danny wanted to be in it and was sorely disappointed when he had to stay home. Once in the vehicle, he didn’t want to move - but he sure wanted to get in! We loved you both, and we miss you both very much!

In a word, Remington was special. He was love. He brought laughter, friendship, and light to everyone he encountered. He was a blessing from God, and we were thankful to have him in our family for many wonderful years. Remington was adopted from GRRNT in February 2003 as a 7 week old puppy. It was a gift to watch him playfully chase leaves in the snow; bond with family, and grow into the intelligent, quirky little Pooh. Through the years, he enjoyed walks in park with doggie bagels, swims in the creeks and all of the attention he received from admiring acquaintances – he enjoyed sharing his love with others. A bright spot of the day was returning home from the office, to see his happy face peeking from the house through a doggy door as he awaited our arrival. The best greeting a person could ask for. His “forever home” was blessed by his presence and quiet by his absence. He will live in our hearts forever. Thank you Remington for all the joy you brought to our lives, and rest in peace over the Rainbow Bridge. Until we reunite...

Jeter, our little big man. Small in stature, big in heart. A people magnet and dog lover. The sweetest of the sweet with the smile of an angel. A heart mender who gave us a lifetime of love. Joyful and skilled on the "dog playing field." When sidelined by neuropathy in his later years, he retained his beautiful Golden personality and learned to play lying down. Well loved by Cooper James, his forever brother, and Smiley, his foster brother -- we know the two Big Boys were waiting to greet him at Heaven's Door. He was the best of the best and a real survivor. We will never forget you, Jeter.

We were very blessed to have been Trevor’s “Forever Home” and have him in our lives for the past eleven years. We will miss that “Special Look” only a Golden can give you. How he would chase a ball but never bring it back, simply expecting another ball be tossed to him. His foraging through the laundry basket and our finding our clothes undamaged but lining his nest – the clothes were replaced by a tennis ball in the laundry basket.

Trevor will remain in our hearts forever.

We adopted our beloved Kodie from GRRNT in July of 2004. At the time he was being fostered by a couple in Keller and was known as "Hawkeye". He was from day one the most gentle and sweet dog that we'd ever seen and quickly became a part of our family. Kodie loved life and he loved people. He also loved our two cats. Our Siamese was as fond of him as he was of her. The only things he didn't like were storms and the UPS truck. He never met a stranger and introduced us to so many people. His favorite trick when visitors came was to chase his tail and catch it which delighted all of our guests, especially children. He also loved to walk himself. He would put his leash in his mouth and run all over the house until we were ready to take him on a walk. He was a beautiful, gentle and sweet dog with so much personality. On Tuesday the 15th of October, he crossed the Rainbow Bridge. He had been diagnosed with an adrenal gland tumor and also a brain tumor and we were keeping him comfortable until it was time. The house is so empty without him and we miss him terribly. Rest in peace, dear Kodie. There will never be another dog like you.

Ashton, our precious buddy, you bounded into our lives with unbridled joy and quickly stole our hearts. Your enthusiasm for life, your utter devotion and loyalty, your love of car rides, and your constant presence in all we did will forever be missed. We thought we rescued you, but you instead rescued us. We will always think of you and smile, knowing what a blessing you were to our lives.

Left on the side of the road you were thin and frail when you joined our family as the youngest of 5. You loved your canine sister at first sight and adapted quickly to your feline siblings. You were always happy, playful and very loving. After 11 years our house is not the same without your wagging tale and soft paw nudges but we are grateful for all the joy you brought to our lives with your sweet gentle nature and love for everyone you met. You enjoyed your “cookies” , cheese, unrolling toilet paper and any chance to use your leash. We will miss you but know that you are healthy again and playing with Mackenzie, Simpson, Bentley and Chadwick. Thank you, Hudson, for all the wonderful memories.

We knew the minute we brought you home that you needed a special name to match your gentle, sweet face. You were our sweet, sweet Nanna. How you will be missed! The girls know you are in "puppy heaven" and we all send hugs and kisses.

Bentley was the sweetest "Golden" we have had the privilege to know. He came to us as an "Oldie Goldie" but his heart was pure puppy. We will miss playing the tennis ball game that he always instigated and never wanted to quit. Now he will be able to play it forever. He will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Thursday July 12, you left our family; our home rings hollow without your presence. Your love and companionship was one of the greatest treasures we found ... and forever will you be cherished. Thank you for coming into our life Casey. In loving memory, you have our hearts.                                     

You touched our hearts and gave us unconditional love and for that we thank you. I hope there is a Chick-fil-a and some nice cool tile for you in heaven. We miss you when we ride around in the car and when we come home and no one greets us. Who will stay awake with me during thunder storms? You were a comfort and a friend.

Ashley "bug-a-boo", you touched our hearts with your unconditional love. Your sweetness and gentle temper will be what we remember you by the most. We are so glad to have had you for these past 4 years of fun. Rest in peace good girl, there are no thunderstorms in heaven.

Haley. We loved you and you returned that love tenfold. We will always remember you as our “safety dog” and a “fancy catcher.” You were the one who showed Charlie and now Chloe how to LIVE in the Hayes-Patterson houses! This last year you fought to survive nearly a year past your prognosis. WE LOVE YOU, SWEET GIRL.

Chance, you were our very special boy, a wonderful rescue ambassador, a great teacher and the best foster dad any GRR rescue could have. There is a deep ache in our hearts made better only by the knowledge that you are now frolicking at the Bridge with Magic, Ernie and the others who have gone before.

Our precious CHARLIE, you brought us more happiness in one short year than we could ever imagine. We know our loss is your gain, as you are once again young and strong.

When I first met my best friend Gibby 7 months ago, I could see he was very loving by the way he gently mouthed my Dad's wrist. When he got sick last week it broke my heart and last night I just wanted to lay with him because I knew he really felt bad. Today I know he's in a better place even though my Dad, Sandra and Justin are really sad and miss him too. The picture is of me between Gibby and my Dad. I miss you Gibby... Love "Murphy"

My sweet Samantha - how I miss you!! You always brought a smile to my face - from your notorious eye for food to your funny way of swimming. You were a blessing to me and to your sisters. You put up a good fight. Now you are playing with Tootsie in Heaven.

Winston was a GRRNT dog needing rescuing at the age of 10. He turned out to be a wonderful addition to our home and a guiding "dad" to more than 100 foster dogs. We were together only 3 short years, but the quality of our lives together was tremendous. My heart longs to have "Winnie" in the kitchen, looking at me with his "food face". Hugs and kisses to my special Winnie.

Baxter, wonderful boy, we are so glad that you chose us! Over and over we recall with a smile, the many goofy Baxter tales from the last 3 short yrs., and in this way the hole you left in our hearts is somewhat soothed. We will never forget…we love you.

Miss Bailey crossed over to the Rainbow Bridge in February of 2015. She is deeply missed by Mom and Dad Kristie and Dan, and old friends Ginger and Jasmine who no doubt greeted her when she arrived. We miss you too, Bailey!

Charlie was known as Casey at GRRNT before we adopted him. He helped to heal our hearts when our beloved golden Kodie (also adopted from GRRNT) passed. Charlie was a true cuddle bug. He loved to plop all 79 pounds down into my lap! Dear sweet Charlie, we will miss your sweet doggie kisses. And how you loved to bring pears from our trees to the back door in the summer. I will miss you going to feed Pogo and Napoleon with me in the mornings and afternoons and your wrestling matches with Jenny. I will also miss how you loved to pick up our shoes and socks and carry them around in your mouth. You had the softest fur. Jenny misses you immensely. And so do we. Rest in peace, beautiful golden boy. Heaven has a new doggie angel.

Callie was our sixth Golden Retriever and our fifth rescue golden. It was our privilege to provide her a Forever Home. She enjoyed playing outside, chasing squirrels, and going for walks. She would lay by our chairs and hold up her paw to be held to let us know she was always near. We certainly miss that connection with her. She was a Golden through and through!
