Texas came to GRRNT due to a change in his owner's circumstances. He is a happy, loving boy who just wants to be near you. Texas is settling into his foster home and we will know more about him soon.
PROFILE
Mature, dignified, golden hunk seeking loving family.
Hi, my name is Tex. I am an 11 year old altered male and 72 pounds of pure handsome. I have a full body of shiny golden hair and soulful big brown eyes. I am currently working on my summer body, but you know – cheese.
Interests include long walks with my human, belly rubs, cats, relaxing times together, sweet potatoes, cats, rolling in the grass, hugs, green beans and cats.
My human says I'm very smart because I maneuvered a bag of dog food – from the kitchen counter, through the dog door, to the backyard, without spilling any – before chowing down at the best all you can eat buffet EVER.
My perfect day:
- Morning walk
- Breakfast
- Long nap
- Yard/squirrel patrol with lots of rolling in the grass and some squeaky toy organization
- Cat management
- Evening walk
- Dinner
- Bed
More stuff to love about me: I love hugs and kisses, but don't usually kiss back :-). I am good on a leash, know how to use the dog door and have never had an accident in the house. I LOVE my cat Newman (and he definitely loves me back). I have a pretty good vocabulary – I know the words “sit”, “no”, “walk”, “leash”, “outside”, “bed”, and “breakfast” (all the important dog words). I LOVE rides in the car – especially our trips to Starbucks. I am not allowed on the furniture - I'm going to keep trying though! But I do get to sleep in the bedroom with my mom and I am quiet all night except for the occasional snoring.
A note from my foster mom: Tex came to GRRNT as an owner surrender following a change in his family's circumstances. He has a couple of fatty lumps (but who doesn't, right?), and the vet has indicated that they are simply just that – fat. He tends to eat quickly, so he is now using “slow feeder” bowls. He has not been around another dog on a daily basis, but is interested in friendly meetings with them on our walks. He is friendly with people (especially the pizza guy). And really loves the resident cat. Tex is a sweet, sweet fellow who is ready to be your perfect companion.
