PERMANENT FOSTER - NOT AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION

November 17, 2020
We are sad to share that pretty Allie left us today for the bridge. She came to us in May 2018 at the age of 14, and we are so very grateful to her foster family who loved and cherished her for the last few years.

May, 2018 - Due to Allie's age, GRRNT has decided that she will be happiest staying in her foster home as a permanent foster. GRRNT will make sure she is comfortable and receives all the care she needs for the remainder of her life. We are so thankful for her foster family who we know will provide all the love and attention she needs.

PROFILE

Allie was found stray by a family who had adopted from GRRNT before. They were kind enough to take her in and try to find her owner without success. Allie is a sweet Golden Oldie. She was in less than optimal condition when she first came into GRRNT care.  She was very thin.  Her right eye did not look good, she had a big sore on her tail, and she had fleas. With some TLC and some flea medicine, antibiotics and eye drops, her eye looks much better now, the sore on her tail is no longer infected, and the fleas are gone.  Luckily, she did not have heartworms, but we were informed she has a heart murmur.  Her teeth are not the best, but because of her age, and heart condition, she may not be a candidate for the veterinary dentist.

For the most part, Allie is a very quiet girl. She does sleep a lot of the day. She has never had an accident in the house and learned how to use the doggie door.  (Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks?). Allie LOVES to play ball. She will fetch as long as you will throw, and if you are done throwing, she will make sure that you see the ball by picking it up and putting it closer to you.

Allie might do best as an only dog or with another adult dog.  She is a little territorial with the other dogs in her foster home, but she hasn’t even noticed the cats. For the most part, other than the added fur in the house, you would never know she was there, unless there is a tennis ball around or you get out the leashes.  She is happy to take an evening walk around the neighborhood.

Allie is looking for a soft bed to nap on, and someone to play ball with. Wouldn’t you like to welcome this sweet girl into your home?
