UPDATES

With great sadness we are posting our loss. Champ took a turn for the worse suddenly and passed over the Rainbow Bridge this morning.

Champ was moved to Permanent Foster status because Champ he has a advanced case of spondylosis, which is dog arthritis in the spine. It is difficult for him to get up on his own so his foster mom has rigged a sling for his back legs so she can help him get up. Once he is up he can get around on his own. She has placed rugs and carpet squares all over the hardwood and tile parts of the house to help him get around more easily. He also got a pair of dog socks to help him with traction inside and out. It is all about quality of life and making him as comfortable as possible for as long as possible.
He's is currently taking pain meds and supplements to help keep him comfortable throughout the day. Champ's appetite is pretty good and he's even put on some weight. Plus, his fur is starting to slowly grow and get a bit of the golden glimmer that was missing when he came to us. All Champ wants right now is to be close to his foster mom and to soak up all the attention and love she can give him, when he's not sleeping of course. His foster mom is doing her best to make sure he gets all the love and care he needs.
