PROFILE
Due to Liberty's medical condition she has been placed in our Permanent Foster program, and GRRNT will assure her well being and happiness for the rest of her life.
Liberty is a 10-year-old female Golden Retriever looking for a forever family to live out her golden years. She's a mellow girl who just loves to be loved on. She loves to snuggle up on the couch next to her foster mom while they watch TV. At bedtime, she loves to snuggle up on her fluffy dog bed next to her foster parents’ bed, but she also enjoys the cool tile.
Liberty loves her tennis balls and likes a good game of fetch. She would love her new family to have a pool because she has really enjoyed her pool time with her foster family.
She gets along well with her foster siblings and she loves her people. She would do best in a quieter home without kids due to her being an older, mellower dog. Liberty wouldn't mind having another mature dog as a buddy, but she is definitely not looking for puppy playtime.
Ideally, she would love someone home all day to give her that companionship, but when her people have to leave the house, she can definitely be trusted alone. She has nice house manners, has never had an accident in her foster home, rides great in the car, and has nice leash manners. In other words, she's a perfect lady!
Liberty’s tests at the vet have shown a kidney function issue. She is being fed a prescription kidney diet, and she will have to remain on this food indefinitely to help control this condition. Her adoptive family will need to continue feeding her the prescription food, and be willing to monitor her levels with their vet periodically.
Currently, Liberty is a happy, active, engaged and affectionate senior girl. She enjoys swimming and playing ball, and being pampered by her people. She has lots of love to give, and still has pep in her step. The vets can’t predict Liberty’s future prognosis. The reality is, as our dogs get older, they all experience some health issues. Liberty’s just happens to be kidney function. Over time, her kidney function may decline, but we hope with monitoring and appropriate care she will continue to be happy and active for several more years. Liberty is looking for a family who will give her the vet care she needs, and appreciate her for the great girl she is.
Liberty needs a family who will love her and give her a place to lay her head for the rest of her golden years. She is an incredibly sweet Golden girl who deserves only the best!
UPDATES

We said a sad farewell to beautiful Liberty today. The kidney disease progressed and left her feeling very ill and weak. She was surrounded by people who loved her as she left. Our deepest thanks to her permanent foster family for providing tender loving care and a wonderful home for Liberty in her last year.

Liberty is happy and enjoying life. She has lost some weight and now weighs 82.5lbs, down from 89! She's feeling spunky enough to engage in games of tug rope with her much younger foster sibling.

Liberty's medical condition did not stabilize as our vet's had hoped, so due to that, GRRNT has made the decision that the best thing for her is to remain in her current foster home where she is content and comfortable. She has now entered our Permanent Foster program, and GRRNT will assure her well being and happiness for the rest of her life.

Good news! Liberty has been cat tested & passed with flying colors, just like her foster family knew she would. She is truly the most lovable, sweet senior girl and is the perfect lady no matter who she is around. She definitely prefers a quiet home where she can get lots of love from her people. She is so deserving of a forever home to call her very own.

Liberty went to her foster home today. She took a dip in the pool as soon as she arrived home and later found a comfy bed and settled down. She loves tennis balls and is getting along beautifully with her canine foster siblings.
