Foster mon says this is the funniest, most engaging, obedient dog she’s ever been around. Whoever gets this boy is going to be one lucky duck!

Ned is a very good natured and even-tempered Golden Retriever. He has been quiet, and does not bark. While he is very interested in squirrels, doves, and even the Southwest airplane as it flies over, he hasn’t barked, not even at feral cats, didn’t bark at yard man, did not respond bark to neighbor’s dog and does not bark at the Roomba. So far has met the housekeeper and the neighbor across the street, with a smile and wagging tail.

He has good house manners. He does not beg at the table nor counter surf. He will sit and watch at a respectable distance or just lay down and nap. Has not tried to get on the sofa, and when he did try to get on the bed he immediately got down when he was told to, and then slept on a mat by the side of the bed. He comes when called with no hesitation. We live in a childless neighborhood so he hasn’t met any children yet.

Ned has an overall happy attitude, and his tail never stops wagging. So far, we can’t find a thing in the world wrong with this sweet boy, other than whining if you lock him out of the bathroom!

Ned was examined at an emergency vet about 5 months ago when he became ill. He was diagnosed with Addison’s disease. At the time his owner’s were not able to support the cost of the medication he needed to stabilize his condition, and the emergency vet had them sign Ned over to them so he could get the vet care he needed. Since then one of the vet technicians has been fostering Ned, and recently reached out GRRNT for help finding him a new home. His condition is now stable and controlled with monthly injections and oral medication.  Ned will have to continue to receive these medications for the rest of his life, and he also will need bloodwork rechecks done every 6 months to ensure his condition remains stable and the medications are working.  Due to the monthly expense of the medication, and repeating the bloodwork routinely, GRRNT has chosen to place Ned in our Permanent Foster program. We are very thankful for his permanent foster family for providing Ned a home where he will be loved and well cared for, for the rest of his life.
