Being involved in animal rescue is incredibly rewarding; helping Goldens find forever homes, helping the sick and mistreated get well, and seeing first hand the generosity and support of our community as we did this past Thursday on North Texas Giving Day is amazing to see first hand. Sometimes, being involved in animal rescue is incredibly sad. Such is the case this weekend. We are very sad to announce that Sam, the adorable Golden puppy with the neurological disorder, has crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

Friday Sam's foster family took him into the vet fearing he may have eaten a sock. He threw up some food, grass, and sticks so the vet put him on fluids and kept him overnight for observation. Saturday morning he was having seizures and was essentially non-responsive. The neurological issue that plagued his lower spine had made its way into his brain. With great consideration and consulting with our vets, the difficult decision to put Sam to sleep was made. Our vets later confirmed that all of his organs were healthy and that there was nothing in Sam's stomach other than fluid and gas as no sock nor other obstructions were found. It was strictly the neurological complications that took his life.

We want to thank all of you for your kindness towards Sam. We are saddened that we weren't able to get to know this little guy better and that we didn't resolve his medical issues and get him adopted into a forever home. We do know that because of you and his wonderful foster family, his short life ended full of snuggles, treats, toys, playtime, lap-time, happiness, and love. He might not have been with GRRNT for long, but we are confident that he was a happy little guy the entire time he was here.

We've put Sam's page on our Permanent Foster Rainbow Bridge page. We appreciate the support and generosity you've shown towards Sam since we introduced him to you.
