PERMANENT FOSTER - NOT AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION

7/2021 Our sweet Weezie had a lot going against her when she came to GRRNT, but one thing she had in her favor for the past year was the best foster mom in the world. Weezie was happy, spoiled, and the queen of her home until recently when she was getting tired, and it was time to say goodbye. Whatever her past life was, the last year with her foster family was the best any dog has ever had. We know Weezie could not have been happier or more loved, and we give our deepest thanks to her foster family for doing that for her. Weezie left her knowing she was treasured.

10/2/2020 Weezie had surgery to hopefully remove a mass from her liver today. While in surgery the surgeon found that her entire liver is full of cancer, and her pancreas looked pretty "angry" too.  While the cancer is non-treatable, she has become a permanent foster and her foster family will provide all the TLC she needs to keep Weezie as comfortable as possible for the remaining time she has with us.

Weezie was picked up stray by animal control. She is a senior girl with some of the common senior ailments like arthritis, and some skin issues. She is good with other dogs, even puppies, and children as young as 4 years old. She barks softly to be let out and let in, and sleeps all night, no nocturnal potty breaks needed. She also seems to have good vision, hearing, and her teeth are in good shape. She loves to chew on bones, rawhides, and has no trouble with crunchy dog food.

Weezie arrived in Dallas last week, and has since been spending her days at the GRRNT vet. Her condition is much more concerning that originally though. Her liver values are alarmingly high, as is her Cholesterol level. Xrays showed a growth on her liver so an ultrasound and needle aspirate will be done to send off for testing.

In the meantime, her foster family is giving her lots of TLC, and making sure she is happy and comfortable.
